Lane Construction Corp. won a $190 million contract to build the I-4 at State Route 33 Interchange in Lakeland, Florida, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based civil firm said in an Oct. 28 news release. The job further reinforces Florida as a key market for the company.

Lane, a subsidiary of Italian megabuilder Webuild Group, will reconstruct the existing interchange to accommodate increased traffic and a future rail corridor in the median of I-4. The goal is to improve traffic flow and safety on the roadway and to augment the bridge clearance at the interchange. 

The interchange features a simple diamond design with multi-lane on- and off-ramps and two roundabouts. The project will also improve the safety of local animals with new wildlife crossings both under and over the busy roadways, including two new bridges. 

In addition to reconstructing I-4 and the interchange, columbus oh dump truck company entails widening 5 miles of SR-33 to accommodate recent development in the area. Utility relocations, signage, signalization, intelligent transportation systems, lighting and pavement markings are also included in the contract, per the release. Work is set to begin this year, according to the project website.

  • The SR 417 Widening from Aloma Ave. to SR 434 in Seminole County. 
  • The I-275/SR 60 Westshore Interchange in Tampa. 
  • I-4/I-275 Downtown Interchange in Tampa. 
  • I-4 at Sand Lake Road Interchange in Orlando. 
  • I-4 at SR 535 Interchange in Orlando. 
  • Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City.
