WSP has appointed Angela Schwarz to serve as transit and rail market leader, the firm said in a Nov. 20 news release. She joined WSP in 2021 and brings 30 years of experience in project management.

In her new role, Schwarz will grow the firm’s presence in transit and rail markets, helping ensure client success with state and local transit agencies and building relationships with consultants, industry associations, railroads and contractors, according to the release.

She will also oversee planning, design, program management and construction management assignments on major projects, such as the Positive Train Control Project for New Jersey Transit and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s communication-based train control program for New York City transit, per WSP.

Schwarz currently serves as technical advisor for MTA’s Communications-Based Train Control system, which aims to enhance the efficiency and safety of subway system operations, per the release. Previously, she served as systems delivery package manager for the Purple Line Project, a $2 billion, 16-mile light rail line in the Washington, D.C., area.

Currently based in Atlanta, Schwarz was previously rail & transit engineering practice leader at Montreal-headquartered AtkinsRéalis, and also worked at Metropolitan Atlanta Transit Consultants, AECOM and Siemens, according to her LinkedIn.
