Ditch Witch’s HX50 vacuum excavator

Ditch Witch focused on boosting productivity and versatility with it new HX-Series of vacuum excavators.

The three models in the series – the HX30, HX50 and HX75 – are equipped with Kubota Tier 4 Final engines that have greater fuel capacity than their predecessors and boost power and dampen noise, Ditch Witch says. Engine horsepower ranges from 24.8 on the HX30, 49 on the HX 50, and 74 on the HX75.

The vacuum excavators are geared toward municipality and underground construction jobs, such as compact urban projects to large-scale excavation, potholing, slot trenching and microtrenching.

The models feature a new cyclonic, three-stage filtration system. The system, composed of a debris tank, cyclonic filter and a .5-micron washable vacuum filter, cleans the air before it reaches critical components. Debris tanks come in capacities of 500 or 800 gallons. Other options include a standard or heavy package with various freshwater tank sizes and trailer weights and an optional power boom or jib boom. All of its trailer configurations comply with National Association of Trailer Manufacturers’ Compliance Verification Program, the charlotte nc aggregate supply company says.

Ditch Witch also says it gave the models a low-profile, compact design for maneuvering on jobsites without sacrificing ground clearance, power or production.

Here’s a look at each of the three models:

HX30

Ditch Witch HX30 vacuum excavator

Designed for mid-sized underground construction jobs such as potholing and soft excavation or non-hazardous cleanup. It has 66 percent more fuel capacity than its predecessor. Its blower delivers 512 cubic feet per minute and its water system can provide up to 4.2 gallons per minute of flow. Comes with 500- or 800-gallon debris tank and 200- or 400-gallon water tanks.

HX50

Designed for all machine functions including potholing, storm-drain cleanout, small-slot trenching, HDD fluid, soil and jobsite-debris cleanup, water-leak repair, landscaping and posthole digging. It has 20 percent more fuel capacity than its predecessor. Comes with an 800-gallon debris tank with a 200- or 400-gallon freshwater tank. Its blower delivers 1,005 cubic feet per minute of air flow, and its water system provides up to 5.3 gallons per minute of flow.

HX75

Ditch Witch HX75 vacuum excavator

Ditch Witch says the HX75 is its most powerful vacuum excavator and is ideal for microtrenching, slot trenching, potholing, large cleanup tasks and traditional excavation jobs. Its blower delivers 1,315 cubic feet per minute of air flow. It offers 20 percent more fuel capacity than its predecessor. Its 800-gallon debris tank can be configured with a 200-gallon or a 400-gallon freshwater tank. Its water system provides up to 5.5 gallons per minute of flow.
