Gehl, Mustang intro RT185, 1850RT track loaders with pilot controls, redesigned cab

Saying the controls offer operators “an all-new experience,” Manitou has introduced a 1,850-pound capacity machine to its Gehl and Mustang compact track loaders that offer pilot controls.

The new Gehl RT185 and Mustang 1850RT track loaders offer one-to-one proportional control over the drive system with a hydraulic pilot control joystick, Manitou says. Thanks to a cab redesign on these CTLs, the joystick is mounted to the seat, adding legroom and minimizing arm fatigue.

Volvo: Electric Site quarry test reduced emissions by 95%

Announced in 2016 during Volvo Construction Equipment’s Xploration Forum, the Electric Site quarry test is now complete, with Volvo declaring that the 10-week experiment with partner-client Skanska resulted in a 98 percent carbon emission reduction.

Volvo CE says the results were “even better than expected,” and also showed a 70 percent reduction in energy costs and 40 percent reduction in operator costs. The positive results have prompted the two companies to extend the test period until the end of the year.

The dump trucks charlotte nc says the test results are “a big step forward” in achieving its future vision of charlotte nc dump truck company sites that are 10 times more efficient with zero accidents, zero unplanned stops and zero emissions. They also “support the potential for 25 percent reduction in total cost of operations,” according to a Volvo CE press release.

Test Drive: International CV Series an impressive return to medium duty

International bowed out of the medium duty vocational segment when it mothballed its TerraStar model in 2015, but the Lisle, Illinois . truck maker is taking a curtain call nearly 4 years later with a new Class 4/5 truck.

The final piece of International’s completely revamped truck lineup, the CV Series is not a consumer-grade vehicle and International says it was not designed for “average joes.”

This week, I took a collection of CVs for a spin around Chicago’s Soldier Field – home of Da Bears – to get a feel for just how International plans to separate itself from the likes of Ford and its Super Duty and Ram’s 4500/5500 pickups.

How Cat’s electric drive D6 XE dozer delivers max torque, big payback

Unlike the D7E introduced nine years ago, Caterpillar’s new D6 XE electric drive will be a high drive machine, the first in an electric drive dozer.

Compared to the 3-speed D6T, which it replaces, the D6 XE, first unveiled at the Trimble Dimensions show, offers up to 35 percent better fuel efficiency and increased agility, says Sam Meeker, product application specialist. With no gears to shift, the machine’s constant power to the ground, continuous push and greater maneuverability means faster cycle times.

“This is truly a 30-year redesign. Everything is either new, updated or beefed up on this machine,” Meeker says of both the D6 XE and the all-new D6.
