NDOT kicks off Phase 3 of Centennial Bowl II Project in Las Vegas | Dump Truck Company

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) kicked off Phase 3 of the $73 million Centennial Bowl II Project at the interchange of U.S. Highway 95 and 215 Beltway in northwest Las Vegas on January 22, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
The project includes building a 75-foot tall, 39-foot wide, two-lane flyover bridge to connect north-to-west freeway traffic. The concrete box girder structure will be 2,635 feet long, making it the state’s second longest bridge.
“It provides better access and improved mobility for one of the fastest growing areas of southern Nevada,” said Tracy Larkin, NDOT deputy director, according to the news agency.
Part of the Oso Blanca Road ramp and the old north-to-west loop will be removed to make room for three new freeway flyover ramp connections, including: eastbound 215 Beltway to U.S. 95 southbound; U.S. 95 southbound to 215 Beltway eastbound; and U.S. 95 southbound to 215 Beltway westbound.
The flyover ramps require minimal right-of-way and will eliminate the current stop-and-go surface street travel.
“That goes a long way in stopping the deadly car crashes that happen on our roads,” said Sen. Scott Hammond, according to the news outlet. “Another benefit is the increase to air quality by reducing traffic gridlock and vehicle idling. It goes a long way to ensuring clean air to Nevada families.”
Plans also include the construction of a south-to-east flyover, drainage upgrades, new lighting, landscaping, and Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) enhancements, which are being underwritten through a combination of $54 million in state funding and $19 million in federal funds.
The entire project is expected to be complete by the spring of 2021.
