United Rentals offers trench-safety training and safety devices.

United Rentals is gearing up for the 2019 national Trench Safety Stand Down, set for June 17 to 21, by hosting events across the country and continuing its training programs on trench safety.

Safety advocates say that such deaths would not have occurred if OSHA rules had been followed. OSHA has also stepped up proactive enforcement of trench safety and has cited companies after seeing unsafe conditions even when no incident had occurred. Penalties in some cases have exceeded $200,000.
