Cranking out 2,100 horsepower and 8,275 foot-pounds of torque at 1,650 rpm, the 16-cylinder Cat 3516E is the latest and largest of the company’s dual-certified engines, meeting both the U.S. EPA and CARB Tier 4 Final and the EU Stage V emissions regulations.
The engine is designed for high-power applications in machines like shredders, chippers, grinders, and bore and drill rigs.
For those of you who like to geek out on these things, the bore measures 6.69 inches (170 mm) and the stroke measures 8.64 inches (215 mm).
According to the dump trucks charlotte nc the 3516E is capable of being operated at maximum power and speed without interruption or load cycling thanks to a robust design and heavy-duty components.
Compared to its predecessor, the 3516C (a Tier 2 design), the 3516E offers 1.3 percent lower operating costs.
To meet exhaust emissions regulations the turbocharged/aftercooled Cat 3516E engine uses a dual-SCR-only aftertreatment using diesel exhaust fluid.
