The new $340 million Texas 360 extension project, a 9.7-mile toll road being built between Interstate 20 in Arlington and U.S.

287 in Mansfield, is expected to be complete April 2, the Star-Telegram reports

Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams said the new toll road will be a boost for his city. “It really enlarges the area from where we can draw skilled workers for Arlington,” he told the news agency. “That 30-minute travel window to Arlington really expands. You’re talking places like Lancaster, DeSoto, and Cedar Hill.”

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is building the toll road, but it will be operated by the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA). When finished, driving the entire toll road will cost $1.62 with a TollTag and $2.44 if billed by mail. Frontage roads will be free.

Traffic counts indicate that more than 55,000 vehicles travel the route every day, and that is expected to grow to 174,000 by 2030.

Two additional major Texas projects include:

• A $233 million project to rebuild the Interstate 30 interchange with Texas 360, which is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
• A $60 million project to ease gridlock on 5.4 miles of Texas 360 between I-20 and Division St. The contract should be awarded in February 2018 and the project completed in 2 1/2 years.
