Improvements planned on Interstates 17, 40 in northern Ariz. | Aggregate, Excavation, Dump Truck Company

A final layer of asphalt on 12 miles of Interstate 40 between Parks and Riordan will be applied this year, ADOT says.

The new year will bring a slew of improvements to major roads in northern Arizona, according to the state’s department of transportation.

First on the list is applying a final layer of asphalt on 12 miles of Interstate 40 between Parks and Riordan. After that, another 17 miles of the interstate will be repaved between Parks and Williams, west of Flagstaff.

Northbound I-17 will also be repaved near the I-40 interchange, where the road has deteriorated from winter damage, according to ADOT.

A project will continue on rebuilding 5 miles of I-40 west of Williams.

And the I-17/I-40 interchange in Flagstaff will be improved this year, with three bridge decks replaced and the ramps repaved.

Other projects planned in 2018 for northern Arizona include widening 9 miles of State Route 260 west of I-17 in the Verde Valley and widening U.S. 60 in Show Low, according to ADOT.
