Transportation Research Board offering webinar on pavement marking visibility | Aggregate, Excavation, Dump Truck Company

A&M Transportation Institute researchers have identified a technique for developing safety-based retroreflectivity criteria for pavement mar

The Transportation Research Board is offering a webinar that will focus on helping to ensure roadways are safe for night travel.

This webinar will focus on assessing pavement marking retroreflectivity at night. It will explore proposed pavement marking visibility standards and promising maintenance practices, according to the TRB.

The webinar will be held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, March 29, 2018.

The TRB is one of seven program units of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, which provides independent, objective analysis and advice to the nation on public policy and other topics.

Presenters will discuss proposed minimum standards to the U.S. Federal Highway Administration’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and will describe case studies of their network-level maintenance practices, the organization says.

Charles Holzschuher from the Florida Department of Transportation will describe that state’s new pavement marking management system.

Mary Bramble from the Michigan Department of Transportation will describe the roadway delineation practices used there.

Cathy Satterfield from the Federal Highway Administration is also presenting.

Some registrants will need to pay $95 to attend this webinar. Sign into MyTRB.org for more information and to view registration information.

A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be provided to Professional Engineers (PEs) who register and attend.

Separate webinar offered on asphalt pavement density

TRB will also conduct a webinar from 2 to 3:30 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday, March 27, ET that features research from the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP)’s Research Report 856: Specifying and Measuring Asphalt Pavement Density to Ensure Pavement Performance.

This webinar will examine the current agency practices used to measure and specify the in-place density of asphalt pavements, TRB says.
