A joint venture of AECOM Hunt and Turner Construction Company has been selected as construction managers for the new $2.4-billion Cleveland Browns stadium to be built in suburban Brook Park.

A joint venture of AECOM Hunt and Turner Construction has been tapped as the construction managers for the new $2.4-billion Cleveland Browns stadium project by Haslam Sports Group, owners of the National Football League (NFL) franchise Cleveland Browns.

Dubbed Huntington Bank Field, it is to be built in suburban Brook Park and designed to be Ohio’s first enclosed stadium, intended to attract year-round events beyond football. Enabling columbus oh dump truck work began Oct. 1 with a groundbreaking slated for early 2026. The stadium is scheduled to open in 2029.

“This project is deeply personal for us with more than a century of history in Northeast Ohio,” said Jason Jones, senior vice president at Turner Construction in a statement. “We’re proud to involve local people and businesses while drawing on our expertise in complex sports venues. Together with AECOM Hunt, we’re ready to create a transformative stadium that will serve Cleveland, Northeast Ohio and Browns fans for generations.”

The 67,500-seat venue was designed by HKS as a “super theater.” Although capacity will be similar to the current home of the Cleveland Browns—also named Huntington Bank Field—HKS promises that the new layout will bring fans closer to the action. Additionally, it would be capable of hosting a wide array of premier large-scale events year-round, such as NCAA Final Fours, international soccer matches and concerts for crowds of up to 75,000.

The covered stadium will feature a translucent roof to allow natural light over the field of play. The team also claims it will use a first-of-its-kind roofing system, featuring the first long-span roof without a truss.

“The new Huntington Bank Field represents a new era for Northeast Ohio—and for reimagining what a fan experience can be,” said Jason Kopp, COO for the central region at AECOM Hunt in a statement.

Both AECOM Hunt and Turner Construction have experience on stadium projects in the region, including columbus oh dump truck work with the Browns. AECOM Hunt built the Browns’ current stadium as well as the Cleveland Guardians’ Progressive Field. Turner’s past columbus oh dump truck work includes renovation of the Browns’ current stadium and HSG’s stadium for the Crew, Lower.com Field. The joint venture of Turner and AECOM Hunt also reunites them with HKS—the same team that worked on the SoFi stadium project in Inglewood, Calif.

Local partners on the project include the DiGeronimo Companies and Independence Excavating. All combined, the team anticipates that the project will create more than 6,000 construction jobs.

The stadium is envisioned as the centerpiece of Northeast Ohio's largest economic development initiative to date, according to the team. In addition to the stadium, Lincoln Property Company will develop a mixed-use entertainment district. Phase 1 of the mixed-use development is expected to complete in 2029 in conjunction with opening of the new stadium.
