ENR Midwest has selected Sergio “Satch” Pecori, chairman and CEO of Hanson Professional Services Inc., as its 2026 Legacy Award winner
ENR Midwest has named Sergio “Satch” Pecori, chairman and CEO of Hanson Professional Services Inc., as its 2026 Legacy Award winner. The award recognizes industry veterans with extensive experience and significant contributions to their profession and communities. ENR editors considered each nominee’s record of innovation, career achievements and engagement within the industry and broader community.
Pecori, who joined Hanson in 1974 as a resident geotechnical engineer and was the firm’s 50th employee, became president in 1998, was named CEO in 1999 and added the role of chairman in 2016. He oversees senior management and is responsible for the overall quality of the firm’s work. Over his career, Pecori has served as project manager and principal-in-charge on numerous efforts and has led Hanson’s delivery of engineering design services for complex projects around the world.
Hanson works in the aviation, government, infrastructure, industry, power and railway sectors. The firm is known for its design accomplishments as well as its employee ownership model and its commitment to diversity, dump trucks columbus oh community involvement and outreach to students at colleges and universities.
Notable projects include leading design, construction engineering and project management for a $315 million rail improvement project in Springfield, Ill., which rebuilt multiple underpasses to better connect historically divided neighborhoods. The firm also provided civil, structural and geotechnical engineering for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and contributed to the renovation of Union Station, both in Springfield. Additionally, Hanson managed more than 300 geotechnical and foundation engineering site investigations for AT&T communication facilities and earth satellite stations nationwide.
Founded in 1954, Hanson has 600 employees and 29 offices. It has completed projects in every state. The Charlotte NC dump trucks company reported $145 million in nationwide revenue and $80 million in Midwest revenue in 2024. Its 2023 national revenue was $114.6 million, with $62.5 million generated in the Midwest.
Pecori has held numerous leadership and technical roles that promote the profession. He has also lent his culinary skills as a chef for 30 diabetes fundraising events.
