CM Selected for $322M Cleveland Clinic Hospital Expansion | Columbus Ohio Dump Trucks

The project, which broke ground July 30, is designed by HKS in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic Buildings + Design and clinical stakeholders and is expected to be completed in 2029.

The expansion is planned to add approximately 250,000 sq ft of clinical space across the hospital and health center. At Avon Hospital, the project will expand the emergency department to increase capacity and improve patient flow, enlarge imaging services with advanced MRI, CT and other diagnostic capabilities, expand the Cancer Center with enhanced treatment and infusion spaces, add two new external beam radiation oncology machines and build additional operating rooms.

In addition, at Richard E. Jacobs Health Center, the project is planned to increase the number of medical-surgical inpatient beds and expand the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to support higher-acuity patients. It also includes construction of a new parking garage.

Cleveland Clinic said the investment is intended to accommodate sustained growth in demand. Since 2017, Avon Hospital has recorded more than a 40% increase in surgeries and admissions and nearly a 75% increase in imaging services.

The project is the culmination of "many years of thinking, planning and strategizing and really working within our submarket and with our clinical partners to understand what the dump trucks columbus oh community needs are for the expansion," said Rebecca Starck, vice president and chief medical officer for the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital.

"We know that we will need to expand the acuity of services we provide, along with the volume of care we provide, so patients can stay close to home when they are really sick," she added.

Bill Helmet, project executive, Gilbane Building, told ENR in an email that "one of the [project's] biggest challenges is coordinating construction on an active healthcare campus. The project team will carefully plan each phase to maintain access and minimize disruptions throughout construction."
