Engineering and construction services firm Brown and Caldwell has named Geoff Grant to a new C-suite role to direct its long-term growth strategy.

As chief growth officer, Grant will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable and client-focused growth plans. Grant, who previously was senior vice president of sales, has more than 20 years of experience in the planning, design and construction of critical water and wastewater infrastructure. He will be based in Cincinnati. The employee-owned company, headquartered in Walnut Creek, Calif., celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2022 by giving a 5% salary increase to all of its 1,800 employees.

Alberici, St. Louis has promoted John East to market leader for the firm’s water business unit. East will lead preconstruction and construction of water and wastewater projects in addition to maintaining client relationships. East has been a contributor to many water and wastewater projects over his six years with Alberici, including the $135-million Crooked Creek Water Reclamation Facility Improvement in Gwinnett County, Ga., and the Wichita Northwest Water Treatment Facility, a new 120-million-gallon-per-day water treatment facility.

Ryan Luck has been named construction services group director and associate vice president for HNTB Corp. Luck, who is based in the Milwaukee office, will focus on the firm’s growing staff and portfolio of construction services projects in Wisconsin. Luck was previously with the Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation, where he worked for the last 32 years. Tony Kratofil has joined HNTB as a national Dept. of Transportation practice consultant and will serve as a strategic adviser on projects throughout the Great Lakes. Kratofil, who is based in the Lansing, Mich., office, will also support the company’s DOT market teams and transportation clients nationwide in the oversight and delivery of capital improvement programs. Most recently, Kratofil served as chief operating officer and chief engineer for the Michigan Dept. of Transportation, where he directed the planning, design, operation and maintenance of all aspects of Michigan’s surface transportation system.

Syska Hennessy has promoted Joseph O’Sullivan to executive director of operations. O’Sullivan leads the Chicago office along with the Central and Southeast regions. His new title also reflects expanding international responsibilities.

Principle Construction Corp. of Rosemont, Ill., has hired nine new staff members. John S. Cahill was hired as a senior project manager in the Rosemont office. Cahill has more than 35 years of experience building large-scale headquarters buildings, warehouses, medical office buildings, restaurants and tenant interiors. Jim Greco has joined Principle as a senior project manager. Greco has worked on office buildings, medical offices, religious and educational facilities, industrial buildings and senior living facilities throughout his 40-year career. Patrick Byrne, who has more than 15 years of experience working at Chicago area construction companies, has been hired as a project manager. He also earned a degree in information technology from DePaul University in 2014, giving him the ability to lead IT-related aspects of the firm. Leslie Smedberg, who has worked in billing and processing for more than 15 years and has experience in AIA billing and Chicago Title lien waivers, has been hired as project accountant. Other new team members are Stephen Augustyn as an assistant superintendent, John Isaacson as a senior superintendent and Scott Nagle and David Plunkett, both as superintendents. In addition, Justin Cook has been hired as a project estimator.

Vhris Kuykendall has joined Mule-Hide Products Co. in Beloit, Wis., as fluid-applied segment manager. He will provide contractors, specifiers, associates and distributor partners with training, education and other support.
