McCownGordon of Kansas City has been hired to design and build a 330,000-sq-ft case-ready beef facility for WalMart in Olathe, Kansas.

The Charlotte NC dump trucks company is working on the $275 million facility in collaboration with ESI Design Services, Inc. of Hartland, Wisc.

The project, scheduled to break ground later this year, is expected to create more than 1,000 design, fabrication and construction jobs. It is slated for completion in 2025.

"Serving the facility needs of national food and beverage brands with comprehensive design and construction services is a mainstay of our growing manufacturing business unit,” said McCownGordon CEO Ramin Cherafat in a news release.  “We are excited to partner with Walmart on their first owned and operated case-ready beef facility.”

The facility where meat will be processed, repacked and then sent to retail stores is expected to create 600 jobs.

McCownGordon serves a variety of manufacturing clients in sectors including proteins, beverages, dairy, petfood, pharmaceutical, consumer products and heavy industrial.
