Tutor Perini low bidder on Los Angeles LAX airport-Metro transit hub | Dump Trucks Charlotte NC

The estimated value of the contract for the new transit hub is $480 million.

    In addition to providing a direct connection to the people mover, which is under construction, the connector project will include:

    • A new, large-capacity light rail station.
    • A bus plaza and terminal facility for Metro and municipal bus operators.
    • A new Metro customer center.
    • A pedestrian plaza with a passenger pick-up and drop-off area.
    • Secured bicycle parking.

    LAX Integrated Express Solutions, a Fluor-led consortium that includes ACS Infrastructure Development, Balfour Beatty, Bombardier Transportation, Dragados USA, Flatiron and Hochtief PPP Solutions, broke ground on the $5 billion APM project in March 2019. The value of the design and construction is less than $2 billion, but the 25-year operations and maintenance components of the contract bring the total to almost $5 billion.

    The 2.25-mile electric train system, which will run on an elevated guideway, includes six new stations. Major construction is expected to be complete in mid-2022, and passenger service should begin in 2023.

    Tutor Perini also recently announced that the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency board of directors approved $146.6 million of change orders to the company's Central Subway project contract. That line will connect downtown San Francisco and the city's Chinatown district. The change orders increase Tutor Perini's contract to more than $1.1 billion and extends completion dates to March 31, for substantial completion, and Sept. 27, for final completion.
