Bethesda, Maryland-based Clark Construction has topped out Phase One of The Stacks, a 2.7 million-square-foot, mixed-use development in Washington, D.C’s Buzzard’s Point neighborhood, according to an Aug. 2 press release.

Clark, along with D.C.-based real estate developers Akridge and National Real Estate Development, finished the structural concrete on Building B, the first of three residential towers on the project.

Since the project broke ground in May 2022, crews have placed 66,000 cubic yards of concrete. Now that Building B’s tower is complete, the team will finish Building A and Building C, before shifting focus to the building envelope and interior work.

Phase One, estimated to cost $643 million, according to the Washington Business Journal, will create 1,100 rental apartments, 35,000 square feet of retail, 300,000 square feet of below-grade parking and a 15,000-square-foot public park, according to the release.

A pedestrian-only path will run across the project, guiding walkers past Audi Field — home turf of Major League Soccer’s D.C. United and the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League — to the Anacostia River waterfront.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2025.
